Okay, now I'm really pissed.
on: August 20, 2006, 06:41:42 PM
Greetings.

Just practicing today, a fine Sunday morning almost 12 o'clock AM, when I hear loud banging against my wall. If you know loud that was nothing like it. It was loud. I also heard some "annoyed" voices there. I will abstain from using profanities or any other vulgar sense for that matter, but I am at a thin line. Of course I don't do anything about it it is my nature, but I am really annoyed and most of all pissed.

Oh, I am sorry for not noticing that my other neighbor also complains. Sitting around watching TV all day, I know what my neighbors do. Rest and quiet my ass. Just wasting time and compaining about me not giving the rest, please. I am seriously at a thin line right now, and I officially hate my neighbors. I almost never hate anyone, and if I do it is for a little second, but here I am just pissed. I don't give a shit if they complain, I would actually be delighted in knowing that they can't do anything about it and will have to put up with it. I am sorry for resorting to profanities, but speaking of this nicely will not get the desired effect.

It doesn't stop here. My second neighbor who also complains(I mentioned him earlier), makes horrible noise from 6 AM and on, along with loudest music possible. I won't even go into detain of what he doesn in his town house. Do you see the irony? Him complaining about me not giving him rest? My parents have countless times went over to him asking to stop making the noise, to which he whole heartedly appologized. Him complaining about me making too much noise. I don't normally use this expression, but he has got to be joking. I will abstain from using profanities.

Oh, this is just great. We have made an agreement. That during some "hours" he doesn't like to be disturbed and if malcontened he should knock against my wall to let me know. I couldn't be more distraught. I understand that piece is important, but quite francky, I don't give a darn in he is malcontended. Quite frankly, I would like to shove his agreement right up his (I will abstain from profanities). Who is he to determine when he wants rest. Might as well get out of the (I will abstain from using profanities) house and do something.

So according to our "agreement", I will be able to resume my practicing in about an hour. There is nothing I hate more than being disturbed while practicing. I get cranky. I will forgive him this time since it is Sunday, but if that happens during a week day, I'm complaining.

You have my genuine sympathy, DB.

I suggest you get a digital. Turn the volume down to practice when the "agreement" says you shouldn't, and use your acoustic when practice is legal.

With your talent, you could put extremely good use of the digital's capabilities. You might even get to like it - a little bit, anyway.

These restrictions you're being forced into can be disastrous to your mental health. Perhaps you can talk your Mom into moving to a one-family house. I hope so.

Barnown you have made my day. I do have a digital with headphones that I used to practice on. However, now that I have a Baldwin to practice on with a heavy touch, going back to the digital is like a joke. I simply can't practice on it. It simply isn't the real thing. My Baldwin has a heavy touch, so when I come over to my teacher for lessons, her keyboard seems so light to me that I have practically no words. We are also searching for a house currently so hopefully within a year I will not have to put up with neighbors any longer. I was really moved by your statement about my mental health. I have a history of unrecorded depression and was about to set into one until I saw your post. Thanks.

By the way, how dare you call me DB ;) ;D. I am DS. Anyways, thanks for your help.

By the way(I know, another one) I was running through my Moszkowski etude no1(E major) that I so dearly love. You could imagine my expression when I was distraught from that one.

Best.

I'm very glad to have helped, DS.

But you're a year away from having a house of your own. So you 're practically forced to start looking for solutions to the problem right now!

A year can be an eternity when your greatest passion is severely frustrated. You're riding a bit of a high right this minute, but comes a week from today, you'll probably be in the pits.

So, get off the stick and start looking for a bare-bones, low-cost  digital with a touch as close as possible to your Baldwin. Maybe even heavier. You'll need it to get yourself through this crisis.

And I don't know where I got DB!!!  ;D ;D ;D

Come to think of it, however, take a look at your spelling of my name - in the first paragraph above - Barnown. It is BarnOwl

But who cares!!

I am okay now, just that I was very upset earlier. I got alot of practicing done today so I am alright. The neighbors don't care as long as I am not practicing below 11 ish (AM). It is a weekend after all so I should kind of take it easy on them. I am sorry for mispelling your name BarnOwl.

Thanks.

did you say in the first thread 12 AM?  you must have meant PM.  and, why can't you practice before 11 am.  that's ridiculous.  my best practice is in the morning.  these people should get out of their houses and go do something.

12 o'clock AM, morning.

Funny thing is that when confronted, they threatened to turn on music real loud. Okay. Then they threatend to bounce the ball at the wall to make noise. Okay. Then they ran out of ideas. Pathetic and selfish. You are right, they shoud go outside and do something instead of just sitting around at home all day, even though it's a weekend. It's do them good and me, won't bother me.

you mean you practice until AM?  like midnight.  or 12 PM afternoon.  maybe you should just give me military time.

Now you obfusticated me. I wake up let's say at 9 o'clock morning. Because of the time I can't practice because of the neighbors, although believe me I would love to. Through out the day I practice around 4 hours average, depending on the day. Sometimes more sometimes less. My piano lessons are 3 hours average. On weekends I stop practicing at around 7 PM because of the neighbors, otherwise I can carry over more into 10 PM. I hope this made sene.

There's some irony here.

You and Pianistimo say the neigbors should get out of the house earlier in the morning during weekends, to go do something (presumable healthful). Well, how about you, DS? I'll bet you stayed cooped all weekend, every weekend and practiced, practiced, practiced — until The Neighbor's Rebelllion anyway.

But I can't blame you.  ;D ;D ;D   A musician is a special case.

Heh, I knew that was going to come up. Yes I noticed the irony. ;D. My mom insisted on me going outside or to go swimming. Reluctantly I do go out of the house. I attend college so technically I am outside. I have a free hour in between 2 of my classes so I just go to the library and read. I would practice on their pianos, but unfortunately the practice rooms are closed at that time of day.

So grovel, a little! Ask for the practice rooms to open in your free time. Just think. That's an a 50-minute time span to bang away as loudly as you want, and not have to worry about your nudnik neighbors.
