Search within a thread
on: August 26, 2006, 10:41:41 AM
A search function where you can search for things, and things posted by a specified user within a large thread woud be nice.  The normal search doesn't work that well for such a task.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

Yes, that could sometimes be useful but why not just hit ctrl+f when viewing a topic or the "latest post of: ..." page to search on that page?
The only slight backdraw is that if the topic has several pages (more than 50 posts) you must search separately on every page.

There are a lot of those huge multi page threads, with good useful info somewhere inside bit it is hard to find.

CTRL + F is fine for one pagers.  But what about those long detailed discussions where your trying to find something someone said, that was posted 12 moths ago.  It would go a long way in helping pianostreet make the huge amouts of info a little bit easier to access.

The advanced search page lets you isolate specific names and limit your search to certain boards.

You can right click and "open in new window" to get all the pages of one thread fairly quickly.
