Broken Pedal
on: August 30, 2006, 08:00:47 PM
My pedal broke  8)

I was pressing the damper pedal, and at random, I heard this 'ting' sound, and then it just stopped working... it still presses down with the same force, but it's as if it detached from the inner mechanism... I'm using a young chang  :-X , so if anyone knows if I can fix it on my own then plz tell me how... or would it be easier to get a guy come in and fix it?

Upright:
Open up the top and bottom pannels.   In the bottom, follow from the pedal, up to a lever, across to one end of the piano.  There should be a vertical stick attached to the end of the lever going up into the action where there is a reciprocating socket.  It may have just poped off.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

if i'd have known how simple it was (before i saw my tuner do this) i'd have done it myself, too.  you know things are bad if the whole pedal disengages and falls completely to the ground.
