Online chatting
on: September 02, 2006, 12:33:01 AM
I am sure most of you, not all of you use instant messaging chatting using yahoo or MSN Messenger. I think it is a great way of communicating with faraway people or friends you don't talk with too often.

Sometimes it can turn into addiction. But, I think it is so similar to normal face-to-face chatting. Some may think it is not because you are communicating with a machine not a human being. But hell no !!! At the other side there is another person who uses his/her mind to write those words.

So do you think online chatting is similar to face-to-face ?? And are people online the same as they are in real life ??

i think chatting is a great way to discover a person's mental side. you really get to know that person without even meeting them. i have met one person from this forum face to face before and it seemed like we knew each otehr for a long time when we met, thanks to instant messaging.

i need time to formulate answers.  on-line chatting is getting personal with strangers, isn't it?  well, if they are musicians, it must be ok.  as long as the distance is between us.  most of the reason i don't do it is that i have no sound on this computer.  it's my husband's way of controlling me.  i don't tend to complain much over technological stuff because i don't want to get involved in it too much anyway. it's all addictive and mentally stifling.  what if you suddenly have 3-4 chatters that start bugging you every day to come and chat.  then what do you do?

that doesn't happen. I think chatting is pretty much the same thing as foruming, except it takes longer.

Huh, the receiver receives your message immediately, and can react immediately, which is faster than foruming.

And Piananistimo, you don't need sound for chatting.

what's the point then.  just spit it out here!  people only go into rooms when they want to talk about someone or get down.  are you telling me you have really intense musical discussions there?  with loads of girls?  yes.  i believe you.  tell me, thal - when was the last time YOU took your meds?

*secretly i just want a pillow fight.  that's all.  10 to 1.
