party games
on: September 02, 2006, 06:08:38 PM
ok.  one hour and a half.  i still need a few games for five year olds.

so far:  pin the tail, tower building contest with legos, pass the egg, run out in the rain (not sure how this one goes, really, but i guess look for puddles and get as wet as you can - with raincoat and boots on), fishing for marshmallows with straws.  each of these games won't take that long so i need two or three more.

any ideas.  make some up if you want.  there are boys and girls - so it has to be for both.

they have a mind of their own - what to do with stuff.  we tried the 'hungry hippo' game and it's ok.  and a deck of cards.  any ideas besides the 'matching' game?

What about musical chairs and pass the parcel.

The old ones are sometimes the best.

as it turns out - the weather has stayed nasty (raining) and so we had a rather small party.  but, thanks for the ideas of musical chairs and pass the (hot potatoe)?  i guess pass the parcel would be cool - too - because then whoever wins can open it?

whew!  i'm tired.  good thing they only come once a year.

When I was five years old, I went to this girl's party, we did a treasure hunt.  We also wrapped ppl up in toilet paper to try to make them look like mummies, hence the name "mummy game"... Maybe also a verrry simple version of charades?  Like maybe something like 'dog' or 'violin'.  Maybe stuff like Stella Ella Olla, if you're familiar with that  :P , and maybe games like duck duck goose, wink murderer, or simply hide and seek.  Another easy card game is go fish, but I found out a way to cheat when I was five, and it's pretty obvious;  if you have any clever little kids, you better watch out  ;)

Hi,
Sometimes a fun game for kids of any age, is to make up a tray of fairly soft jelly(jello)
the day before and have the children suck it up with a straw.  No winners or losers, lots of mess, lots of fun.
Pass the orange from one person to the other under your chin, no hands.
Race from a to b with a balloon between your knees.
Dress up race-Have to put on four items of clothing, i.e. apron, hat, big shoes, tie, run to the end and do a task, run back and take the clothes off again.
Treasure hunts are always fun. you can make them a bit cryptic for older children.  Give them a clue to start, and have the next clue in the hiding place and so forth.  Have a prize at the end.

Happy Partying.
