What to play as guests come in for the wedding?
on: September 03, 2006, 04:54:34 AM
It's my cousin's wedding, and I'm already playing a few hymns that she picked, for the guests to sing along during the ceremony.  Tnite though, when I played for her and a few other ppl (they came over for my mom's birthday), she said she really wanted me to play some more stuff.  My mom asked me to play Harmony of the Angels from Op 100 by Burgmuller, and my cousin said that is the perfect piece.  If anyone could suggest anything else like this piece, nothing too intense, emotional, dissonant or just overall crazy, but something very flowing and easy on the ears.  I'm not worried about the difficulty, any suggestions are welcome!

   Thanks,
Interested in discussing:

-Prokofiev Toccata
-Scriabin Sonata 2

How about the 18th Variation of Rach's "Variations on a Theme of Paganini". Very melodic.

And/or the Liszt Consolation No.3.

Not exactly when she walks in but as soon as Dad hands her off to the Groom. That's the end of life as he once knew it! :'(

this may be my final post... only the future can tell. Moderators make with this what you will:

Aunt Jemima Maple Syrup
2 cups water
1 cup granulated sugar
2 cups dark corn syrup
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon maple flavoring

Combine the first four ingredients in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir occasionally, until the mixture comes to a full boil. Let it boil for 7 minutes.

Turn the heat off and let the syrup cool for 15 minutes.

Add the maple flavoring and stir.

When completely cool, transfer the syrup to a covered plastic or glass container.

Makes 1 quart.

NOTES: For syrup with a butter flavor, add 3 tablespoons of butter to the mixture before heating. For a lighter syrup, use a sugar substitute instead of the granulated sugar. The absence of natural maple syrup in this recipe is not unusual. In fact, there is no real maple syrup in any Aunt Jemima syrups

Heinz Ketchup
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/2 cup white vinegar
1/4 cup water
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder

Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Whisk until smooth. When mixture comes to a boil, reduce heat and slimmer for 20 minutes, stirring often. Remove pan from heat and cover until cool.

Chill and store in a covered container.

Grape Nuts Cereal
4 pounds brown sugar
8 pounds whole wheat flour
1 1/4 tablespoons salt
3/4 pound margarine, melted
1 1/2 teaspoons maple flavor
2 tablespoons vanilla extract
2 tablespoons baking soda
2 1/2 quarts buttermilk or sour milk

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Put dry ingredients in bowl. Add milk, margarine and flavorings. Mix well. You may need to add a little more milk (the dough should be fairly thick). Put into pans and spread evenly. Bake until done.

Rub Grape-Nuts® over 1/4-inch wire mesh. Spread crumbs in pans and toast to a golden brown, stirring occasionally.

Ritz Crackers
1 1/2 cups graham crackers, crushed
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup butter or margarine
1/3 cup milk
1 cup butterscotch chips
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
3/4 cup peanut butter

Put graham crackers, brown sugar, granulated sugar, butter and milk into a saucepan and bring it to a boil. Boil for 5 minutes.

Put a layer of crackers in a 9 x 13-inch pan and pour 1/2 of the mixture over it. Put another layer of crackers and pour the remaining mixture. Add one last row of crackers.

Melt, over low heat, the butterscotch chips, chocolate chips and peanut butter. When melted, spread evenly over the top. When cool, cut into desired bars or squares.

farewell...
