i've fallen in love with them! was wondering if anyone can give me a rough idea of the difficulty level of each one? i'm liking no.2 quite a bit...

Tash, which recording are you listeing to?

i jsut heard these on teh radio right now. what a coincidence. the dj likened their difficulty to some of the debussy preludes. he also noted that they were in the style of dukas.

yes these are great pieces!!! they vary in difficulty like the Debussy Preludes. The only recording i have heard is the one made by his wife. Enjoy them!

i dont remember whose i heard, but håkon austbø plays them very nicely. check amazon or naxos for audio samples.

i have heard håkon austbø's preludes already; they are pretty good, but i would like to hear the one made by his wife... what was his wife's name?

i had forgotten about loriod's rec for a while. hers are a but more "mystical" and meditative than austbø, which is what is needed for these pieces.

i searched for yvonne loriod... apparently she premiered and has recorded the complete works of messiaen.

also found a CD of messiaen playing his own etudes  :o

well, for messiaen, i do like his bird catalogue. however, for the preludes, i prefer loriod. and for the vingt regards, i prefer osborne. i do like austbø's tviett concertos though.
