Shopping for books at discount prices.
on: September 06, 2006, 06:42:29 AM
Time for more books. I thought I've bought enough, but I need more.
I've seen a few posts in the past on pianostreet, but today I can not find them.

Could you, please, share where do you buy your books at a good discount?

Thank you.

Used book stores will often have books at discounted prices, though you have to be a little careful here because sometimes you are not actually saving any money.

Universities and colleges will sometimes have professors cleaning out their shelves and placing box loads of free books outside their doors.

Students from Univerisities and colleges are sometimes placing little adds on bulletin boards or even in papers wishing to sell their used textbooks.  And, along these lines, there are sometimes stores that compete with the University bookstores, selling the same textbooks the University bookstores sell, but at a lower price.

University libraries (and maybe public ones, too) are almost always giving away books.  One of the places I frequent have a couple of tables set up near the exit/entrance of the library with free books on it.  Sometimes I find books whose subject-matter is truly fitting, most times not though.

Also, music stores will often offer a discount on materials for teachers.

I suppose it depends a bit on what exactly you are wanting.  I have loads of books from the above mentioned spots.

Good luck !

In the UK, the best bargains were to be had at OXFAM book shops. :D

I am actually looking for something very specific. A month ago or so I came across a website, where you can get 750 ( or more) books per year at 40% discount. I did not want to mention 40%, because original post was about 20% discount to teachers. It's only when I went to that site, I could see other options. The site sells nothing, but method books.

If you'll excuse me, we go through those method books like through toilet paper before we can actually play anything. 750 method books is not that much.

The address of the site was in some post on pianostreet and no matter what I type now in "search", I can not find it!  Yes, I've tried "toilet paper" too. Maybe you are the better searcher then am I? Please, help me find it!  20% discount is no longer enough.
