I guess that probably doesn't mean much to the international contingent of piano street members, but to Australians, I would think Peter Brock meant more that Steve Irwin did. That's not to diminish any of Steve's achievements, his enthusiasm and passion was certainly admirable, but Peter Brock has been part of our landscape, for thirty years. I know my husband is in deep mourning over the loss of one of his idols.
Is there a name for the phenomena whereby similar incidents occur over short time frames? I can't get over the similarities between Peter's and Steve's tragic deaths. Both doing things that they loved, which did involve danger, but both at( what one would have thought) the lower end of the danger scale.
We really must embrace each day of life.

don't tell me he was only going 30 mph. i realize even 15-20 could seriously hurt someone. i bet these guys were mentally going 'oh great. this is my exit?' considering it all - death is really an unexpected event for most people unless they are sheltered in a retirement community. even then, look at hurricane katrina. what are you going to do when you have to sink or swim.
