Sorry, Meph, just backing up my friend.

I actually have not heard even one of Chopin's songs. Maybe Jre will be nice and post them, and then I can tell you.  :)

Anyway, to (try to) keep the peace: I'm not going to apologise when I didn't mean any insult in the first place, especially when however nasty my post may have looked, jre's looked moreso. But I have nothing personal against anyone here, including jre (don't know anyone well enough), and I actually feel a bit bad about going on about his post when it was other people, not him, who for some reason decided to jump on my case about it. So, peace? Any takers?
well, io can kidna see how one could get riled up over a situation like this. i admit, i was a little pissed off when i posted that on da sdc, so i spoke my mind (maybe a bit more than  necessary). ill accept your proposition of peace. to stay on topic....

i will upload the songs sometime later today in case anyone else wants them. theyre really worth hearing.

Partly, I agree - this is indeed a masterpiece and in my opinion (*ballade in G minor*) Chopin's first in his career of composing (at least among solo pieces). Some of Chopin's most beautiful themes reside within this ballade. The secondary theme is captivating beyond description and I really like the contrasts between the thematic sections and the more technical parts.

Over time, however, I've felt that the ending, particularly the last eight bars or so, lacks much of the epic quality so evident in the rest of the piece. I'm a bit disappointed Chopin didn't find a better way to end this masterpiece than the simplistic noisy keyboard runs with octaves and thirds he chosed.

Well, I think completely contrary!!
The ending is so damn good!! So much powerfull, and so uncommon..
I love begining(wich is one of my best beginings too) as much as ending...

I dont know why you dont like it, try to listen it like "music" not like "octaves and thirds"...
