As far a pianistimo is concerned, we will probably find out next week.

my eyes are sore today because my son left the brightness of the screen level on too high yesterday.  i am a goddess only to my husband.  noone else seems to venerate me the same way.  just when i think thalbergmad loves me, he hits me with a brains on the toilet idea.  what is this?

post count doesn't matter at all.  i would say people that are able to answer a question satisfactorily make a difference.  between a lot of people - this forum is helpful.  otherwise it would not be a 'forum' but rather a guru and his/her followers.

yes.  i sort of liken myself to a modern day ann landers.  ask me a question.  any question.  (yet, i recognize that i have limited travel experience, speak no foreign languages, nd cannot work a computer.  how smart can i be.  must i answer my own question).  say, does anyone know if piano in italian is simply piano?  or is it pianoforte.  i will kill myself if it is the latter (musically speaking).  yikes.  i just used the italian to english dictionary and found that i would have answered better with the original 'pianola' that i was thinking.  that is the only version of piano that is the same in english.

well, anyway - just so you  all don't get a big head.  i did question myself within twenty-four hours of giving the answer.  this morning - i woke up and my head hurt.  i knew something was wrong.  piano - pianoforte - piano - pianoforte.  i decided it was such a trick question anyway.  i mean, who has time to go around saying pianoforte.  the italians are stupider than me.

I think the Italians say pianoforte usually.

good one!  i think this site shows the faith of Bach towards God by his dedications of his works to God.  https://jan.ucc.nau.edu/~tas3/wtc/sdg.html

Yes that is a very interesting site. It is actually quite interesting the faith which many composers had that is largely unreported, but is actually quite clear. I dont know if you know the book 'spiritual lives of the great composers' by P. Kavannaugh. Its a very interesting read and quite revealling.  I know I got a few surprises.  i would love to have met Bach personally. he strikes me as a man who had a much more 'real' and down to earth faith than he is often credited for.  I have to laugh sometimes when you see commentators and distinguished pianists striving for elaborate words and eloquent phrases to describe bach's music and the spiritual aspect therein. One must remember this was an exceptionally busy man who had a wife and children and sickness and real problems in his life battling with deadlines, fading light etc. Simple but vexing things and yet he wasnt to busy to be obviously very versed in the bible. He wasnt to proud to admit his humble dependance on God and to call out in his music - often sort of prayers without words.  Relating to the Christianity- plague thread. Bach strikes me as someone who sacrificed immensely to give God glory in his life, honouring his God given talent, taking time to further his relationship with God through prayer and bible study, walking it daily at home - honouring his family and in his working environment.

Congrats Pianistimo on 8500 posts
For us musicians, the music of Beethoven is the pillar of fire and cloud of mist which guided the Israelites through the desert.  (Roughly quoted, Franz Liszt.)
