help choosing a piece for piano competition
on: September 09, 2006, 11:48:50 AM
think this is the right place to put this

im doing a local piano competition in november and you have to give a 12 minute recital (including breaks).

The only piece that is a definite is Liszt TE nr 6.

I need another piece that lasts round 5 mins but have no idea what to choose

what kind of piece would go best with Vision?

Follow it up with TE#12.

Speaking of TE's, how's the Cortot-Liszt compilation coming?

are there any limits on what you can, cannot, or must play?

the only limit is the time

@ pita bread... would it be wise to play 2 TE's though?

and the Cortot-Liszt is being a pain... have sorted out 5-7 and just need to sort out 8 then will send (i dont know TE 7-9 very well which makes them a pain to sort out)

I don't know about how wise it would be, but either TE#5 (I think you mentioned that you play Feux Follets) or 12 would serve as an excellent contrast with TE#6.

yeah, i do play Feux Follets, but would be a lot more comfortable following it up with Chasse-Neige.

will play them together- see what i think

Why Vision?
For us musicians, the music of Beethoven is the pillar of fire and cloud of mist which guided the Israelites through the desert.  (Roughly quoted, Franz Liszt.)
