september 11 memorials

i realize there are many other people in the world that are hurting - and that america has been protected for such a long time from war and disaster. we must, imo, help those that are hurting so that this will not happen again. and, yet, it doesn't make the pain go away for those who sufferred. forgiveness and carrying on is part of the 'ideal' instead of continued retribution. wwII seemed to resolve most issues within a five year period. we have gone from 2001 to 2006. five years. it seems like yesterday - and yet - as with all horrible crimes we have to forgive and go on. but not forget. because it could happen again. it is my personal prayer that all our troops will come home ASAP. there is not enough troop moral anymore to support this long of a war. it is time to come home! even people who are very patriotic have had enough. too many lost lives. it is not 'giving up' - it is 'leaving it in God's hands.' terrorism will continue to have pockets in the arab states for long years to come, imo. our men have done their duty. susan

A day that shocked the world, one i will never forget. The pictures of people so anguished after watching their infrastructure turned into weapons and a battlefield. The shock and terror on peoples faces as they saw destruction roll through americas gates. Remember those that lost their lives, and their loved ones under these circumstances. It is a pain that is to distant for many of us to ever comprehend. Never again is my wish.

Even though I know there is evil in this world, it never ceases to amaze me how people can treat each other. For the most part, we have been protected here in America. We don't know what it's like to have bombs dropping around us. We don't cringe every time we hear an airplane. I am grateful for that. I suppose I will never understand middle eastern thought, and how this was a justifiable action. Revenge is far from my thinking, and I always try to look for ways to show love. Blowing up buildings, killing people, and killing yourself doesn't show love. We must never forget what happened. We must learn from it and go on, but in love for the people.

At the time i was horrified by the event in America almost three thousand dead, however fifty thousand Iraqy men women and children have been murderd as a direct result of American invasion. Its funy because back in the golf war America murderd more than one hundred thousnad Iraq people in a single day for invading kuwait, and know America invades Iraq though its totally illegal. Lets not forget Herroshima or vietnam ,afganistan oooooooooo the list can go on and on.

zheer, i believe you are right. if normal, hard-working citizens of each country made decisions - i think we would have respected each other's rights to live, work, and be free. governmental bungles on both sides - but, the most hurt are the iraqis. i don't think they were implicity involved (as citizens) in any sort of plot against america. the leaders of various countries over there might be a different story. to knowledgeably and willingly harbor terrorists is taking a risk. i think the average citizen had nothing to do with it. and rue the deaths of innocence. i believe that both sides are wrong. the terrorists for hiding in civilian areas. and the americans for thinking that they can totally change the government of a country (as a sort of cowboy ride into town). it wasn't well thought out or planned, imo. and led to so much death and destruction. how can this be a positive image to iraqis of america? the downfall of saddam was the beginning and end. i think it should have stopped there. the iraqis could have used the money he was stashing.

I just get so tired of terrorists. How can they think that killing people helps their cause? I think the average citizen would like it all to stop. I agree governments get in the way of the average citizen. Someday, at least seven years from now, it will stop.
