Help to ID Catalog # of easy Scarlatti piece
on: September 12, 2006, 03:50:17 AM
I have Vol. 37 (not 47 as I originally posted) of "Classics to Moderns" edited by Denes Agay. I decided to learn a very short and easy Scarlatti piece in the book (p. 15), and would like to know the catalog #. I don't have an access to a scanner, but will give details:

Called "Sonata"
G Major
3/4 time
16 measures (each set of 8 measures repeat)
Allegro
Left hand stays in treble for first 3 measures
Ends with 7 rolled chords in left hand (except for very last note)

Thanks for your help!

Could it be K431, L83? This is mainly triplet quavers, starting with a decending G major arpeggio.  It's in my Alfred "Scarlatti, the first book for piainists", and is about grade 3.

Hello mipiacescarlatti,

Thank you so much for your help!  I will take a look at that book - maybe there will be others in there I'd like to learn!  :)

Try K 32 in D minor - it's easy technically, slow and lyrical, but  repays a lot of musical thought.
