Major Solo Recital
on: September 13, 2006, 03:46:44 AM
Hurrah! I haven't done one of these in over a year and a half!

Here is my proposed program:

Bach Prelude and Fugue No.17 in Ab major Book I (or possibly No.13 in F# major Book II or even a different one, we're still deciding what P&F I will learn next)
Bach Prelude and Fugue No.12 in F minor Book I

Beethoven Sonata Op.28 in D major 'Pastorale'
     I. Allegro
     II. Andante.
     III. Scherzo: Allegro vivace
IV. Rondo: Allegro ma non troppo

INTERMISSION (ten minutes or so maybe?)

Barber Ballade Op.46

Medtner Skazka Op.20 No.1 in Bb minor
Medtner Skazka Op.26 No.1 in Eb major

Rachmaninoff Prelude Op.32 No.12 in G# minor
Rachmaninoff Prelude Op.23 No.7 in C minor

Grieg Sonata Op.7 in E minor
     I. Allegro moderato
     II. Andante con moto
III. Alla menuetto, ma un poco piu lento
     IV. Finale: Allegro molto

Encores:

Scriabin Etude Op.2 No.1 in C# minor
Scriabin Etude Op.8 No.12 in D# minor

What do you guys think?

I think your choices of music are great, but there is too much in this programm. I would leave out Bach and either Medtner or Rachmaninoff, and play the Barber before the intermission.

Actually, I originally put the Barber before the intermission, but wasn't sure of its placement.

The recital is supposed to be about an hour and a half long, maybe a little less. Thus, I need a lot of music since many of the pieces are small.

Si fuera alrededor de mi casa, podría ir, pero yo vivo demasiado allá.

Any other suggestions?

Hey, I always wanted to know, how do you guys do the tick thing on top of foreign words here?

Otherwise, the programme is fine. Where are you holding it? Maybe I'll go. ;)

I'm down here in Eugene.. what's the date?

Seems a bit more on the second half of the program than the first...but what do I know?

Not sure...it's probably not until mid-January.

Wow, and I thought I was the only Oregonian left here.

If you look at the timing of the pieces on the program, it's really not that one-sided.

Bach P&Fs - about 7-8 mins.

Beethoven Pastorale- about 25 minutes

Barber- 6 minutes

So that's almost 40 minutes for the 1st half.

Medtner- 6 minutes

Rachmaninoff- 5-6 minutes?

Grieg- 20 minutes

Scriabin- 5 minutes tops.

That's also about 40 minutes.

Add a 10-minute intermission and the whole recital is a little under an hour and a half.  :)
