quick help requested: Rise and Shine music
on: September 15, 2006, 06:37:50 AM
Late last night when the pastor finally decided on the hymns, giving me just two days to learn them - *Praise the Lord* - he had a brainstorm and decided to include an extra, that old children's tune Rise and Shine.

Of course I know the tune.  Well I think I do.  I've never seen the music though.

I guess I can fake it with I and IV chords but it sounded a bit unsatisfying when I banged it out last night.

Can any kind soul help me out?  Lyrics I've found, but not chords.  It's easy enough I'd like to make it sound good.  (Since I'll probably stumble a bit on one of the others! <grin>)

Try the Sheet Music Request board.
It all happens on Discworld, where greed and ignorance influence human behavior... and perfectly ordinary people occasionally act like raving idiots.

A world, in short, totally unlike our own.

If you have time, look through those old chorus books that churches have around.  You know, the ones that have "Do Lord" etc.  I looked through some of mine, and couldn't find it right off, but I know it's there.  Churches never throw anything away, so I am sure you have an old crusade book, or youth book laying around.  Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions.  One of the guys on the trombone forum sent me something, and it was about what I pictured except for one IV chord where I had a I.

Actually that song would lend itself to some fun arrangements, but there isn't time to do more than just knock it out, fast and bouncy.  I like it on piano, but there isn't time to get across the church from the organ to the piano.

I'm doing it in C, but I worked it out in C minor too.  Hee, hee.  Maybe I'll spring it on them and see what they say.

I love doing that, going from major to minor.  People just dont understand.  Anyway, I was playing around with it yesterday after I read your plea.  At the end, the last "shine", be sure to put the 7th to the chord.   Makes it sound much better.
