Scriabin op. 9 (Left hand only)
on: September 15, 2006, 10:59:16 AM
Has any one played one of them?

I was hoping these pieces to be a usefull/rewarding exercise in phrasing/pedalling/tone production, since one only needs to focus on one hand (although the jumps are sometimes somewhat ackward).

I'm playing both of these at the moment. The thing I find difficult is playing them without overt sentimentality. When I play them for my dad (he's a professional musician) he just about pukes. These pieces are so damned sentimental all on their own, and I just don't know how to interpret them without turning them into cheap sentimental trash.
