Perform and record my first piece for me?
on: September 15, 2006, 04:33:19 PM
I just finished my firt piece(well, not 100% incase there are major issues). Its not great but was a great learning experience. I'd really like to hear how it sounds outside of midi.
I ended up removing a lot of the dynamic markings that I had because they look messy and I hope that the performer will handle it the best way(maybe even better than I can). I've included the main ones but they used in a very relative and general way. For example, I use a fff at one point but in the midi the sound is very bad so if its the same in the piano you might have to play it softer or even at ff. (the general idea is an oscillation of dynamics almost like a crescendo)
Anyways, for those up for the challenge here is the sheet:

I do have a recording in midi but I don't want to influence anyone with it. I don't mind drastic interpretations or anything if it makes it sound better
Theres also a lot of stuff I left out that I wanted to add such as starting on m.35 one could play a tremolo octave for each note in the melody or even arpeggiando the note with its octave or add any type of ornaments such as turns or what ever. I didn't add these things because they don't sound good with midi and I'm not sure how they would turn out on piano.
Actually theres many things I wanted to be different but I just needed to get something done and move on but I don't mind discussing and changing things for the better if anyone has any ideas(besides changing the whole piece
.
My email is Jon_Slaughter@hotmail.com if anyone wants to talk to me that way.
Oh, and hopefully the notation is good enough. I used sibelius and let it do most of the work. If there are any big issues about this or performance issues(such as impossibility of playing) then don't mind mentioning it. I'm sure theres many problems with it.
Thanks,
Jon
