What happened to my piano? Help ^^
on: September 16, 2006, 09:57:53 AM
yesterday, i was practicing bach invention as suddenly my b key didnt work anymore.
The key doesnt seem to be weighted anymore and when pressing it you cant hear any sound.  It would be very nice if anyone could give me an advice and tell me if there is a way to repair my key :(  :'(

Thanks in advance

Yeah, this happened to me once and I told my dad. I showed him the TWO keys (A and B) and he said that I continue practicing and if this continued he'll phone the technician. The strange thing was, I was playing the first few bars of Volodos's Alla Turca variation when the keys worked perfectly again. If your problem still continues, I recommand that you call in a piano technician.

Maybe just that little spring has jumped out that makes the hammer go up. Recently a student of mine had that and I fixed it within 5 minutes. If it's an upright you need to move the front panel away. It's a really tiny spring and you would have to push it back under this little part (I don't know how it's called :P) maybe it's the catcher or so. You will see it when you open it.

Or maybe the hammer shaft has broken? :(
