Hello all. First off id like to say this looks like a cool place, should help me out alot.now im a very serious guitarist, with about 7 years experience, and pursuing a bachelor of arts in music performance(on guitar) in college right now in addition to my bachelor science in physics. My parents bought me a piano for christmas 2005 and ive been pounding away at it since then, but in particular since over the summer. I work at a local music teaching studio and have a lot of friends who are performance majors from work, so I got some tips and such here and there, but I really have no formal training on piano at all. and im getting really serious about it. so basically im asking for some advice on what i should be focusing on. when i started playing all the music i had was a book of clementi sonatinas, so i started with that. i also have this huge book of classical piano pieces( its the 2nd book from library of piano classics published by amsco). this is what ive been working with so far. Im a very hardheaded type who will sit down and practice something thats WAY too hard for me until I get it, so i figure this stuff isnt too bad for my playing experience.ive been surfing these forums and took into consideration the whole practice journal with long term/mid term/ short term goals and the 7x20 idea, and have been applying htat to both my guitar and piano practice lately. ok after all that longwinded blah blah basically i want to know what are some pieces/techniques/other that i need to focus on? this month im working on mozarts rondo alla turca, bach's two part invention no.4, and chopins fantasie impromptu(although this one will take a long time methinks). i have some hanon but dont really use it, and am not sure what is standard for intense piano practice as far as material. any suggestions?
