Buying a Keyboard...
on: September 17, 2006, 05:27:36 AM
I have a grand piano but my parents don't like it when I practice too much.  So I want  want to buy one for my room to practice for a long and as hard as I'd like.

So basically, i need to buy a electronic piano that has headphone plugins, the same amount of keys on a normal grand piano and also has a pedal.  I have realy never looked into this because i don't know how to start.  I'm not looking for quality, all i'm looking for is something i can play on, but will have the same feel as a grand piano (something that won't affect my skill level if i were to play on it often).

Any brand names out there that i should look for?  or specific models.... i have no idea how to reseach this ...

Is not too expensive, I believe in europe around 1200 euro's.
Another option is to go for an 88 keys weighted masterkeyboard with aftertouch, halfpedal.... And to connect that via midi to a decant sounding piano module.

Hallo danieln,

What is your budget? And your room size?

The Yamaha Clavinova CLP models are good and quite a few in this Forum use this.

For a cheaper digital piano suggest you look into the

Yamaha YDP131C Digital Piano w/ 88  Keys, Graded Hammer Note weighted action with realistic piano feel, 3 pedals, 2 headphones, with seat - NEW $1,028 (amazon.com) and perhaps at lesser prices elsewhere (search under Froogle)

This  is constructed  like a genuine piano, not just a keyboard on a stand.

Is 4 ft 8 inches length and 17 inches depth - do you think can be accommodated  in your room?

Best of luck!
