Piano Rock
on: September 20, 2006, 01:37:42 PM
I've got a trial lesson today with a boy who wants to learn to play rock piano.  My boss signed him up a couple days ago while I was in a lesson with another student.  I came out and he told me he signed up a student.  He just said "Teach him chords and stuff"  I wasn't sure what that meant.  Both my dad and piano teacher thought it meant that adult beginners music.

So I gave the guy a call and he said he wants to learn piano rock. xD  I've only been teaching for a little while, and all my students have been just learning the regular stuff.  Most of them are young too, so we can just start with the kiddie beginner books and those pretty much just guide you through.

Any suggestions on teaching a student who wants to learn piano rock?  I plan on teaching him some chords first... but I'm not really sure how to go about this all. XD

alfred adult method book.....you can explain to him that he needs to learn chords and this method will teach him note reading and chords...  it will get him playing some songs very soon with chords, then you can supplement with some other music in the near future.
