A Free Grand Piano? – Scammers Target Piano Enthusiasts

If you’re in the market for a piano, be cautious of a new scam that’s targeting music lovers, businesses, schools, and churches. Scammers are offering “free” pianos but with hidden fees that can add up to hundreds of dollars and, as you may have guessed, the piano will never be delivered. Read more

Suggestions for a new piece
on: September 21, 2006, 12:50:51 AM
Does anybody know of any good piano pieces I could start learning?

I really like Debussy, Liszt, Chopin, and some of Rachmaninoff's stuff.  I finished Debussy's Reverie and Joplin's Elite Syncopations awhile back and just started Mozart's Rondo Alla Turka, just to give you an idea of my level.  I don't like Turkish March nearly as much as I did Reverie, although I plan on finishing it, I was thinking of picking up something else.

Any suggestions?

do you play only classical? if so, try a different style..how about a version of Gershwin Rhapsody in blue? or maybe an arrangement of a pop song...if you like slow classical my favorite alltime piece is Beethoven's Sonata Pathetique/

My teacher said "It's too hard for you."  I guess it's hard to play  ;).

If you like Liszt, I suggest TE #1, which is playable by the average piano student.  Fun, loud, a good warmup, and not too difficult.

If that's too hard, you might want John Schaum Vol. 5 which has an arrangement of the Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 which is shockingly easy  :).
For us musicians, the music of Beethoven is the pillar of fire and cloud of mist which guided the Israelites through the desert.  (Roughly quoted, Franz Liszt.)

...diabolical suggestion is quite fun, especially if you have good articulation and technique...

Speaking of articulation, what about a Bach? Maybe some 2 or 3-part invention? Or perhaps one from the well-tempered klavier?

It sounds like you like Debussy...try some his preludes.

Debussy, one of the Estampes maybe? I personally like La Soiree dans Grenade.
That's the price you pay for being moderate in everything.  See, if I were you, my name would be Ilovepie.  But that's just me.
