bach and chopin
on: September 22, 2006, 10:47:36 PM
hello!

im playing nocturne bbminor op 9,
im also playing the preludium and fuge in g major (number 15) by Bach.
Now; which nocturne do you prefer the most! (i know it's impossible to chose, but imagine that if you only were allowed to play one nocturne in your life, this would be it).
And which preludium by Bach do you think is the "best"?

thanx!

Chopin Nocturne: My favorite is Op. 9 No. 2 in E flat major.
As for a Preludium I personally don't have a favorite.
Why do you ask? Just wondering.

I like that nocturne too, as well as Op.27 No2 and Prost. Nocturne.
I also don't have a favourite Preludium.
Maybe he wants to learn the ones that we like. ;)

My favorite Chopin nocturnes are 48-1 in C minor, 55-2 in Eb major, and 72-1 in E minor, but I wouldn't start with either of the first two.

As for Bach preludes- No.12 in F minor from book I is perhaps the most exquisite, beautiful work in the WTC. No.4 in C# minor from the same book is a close second. Their corresponding fugues are incredible, too, I might add.
