the story of one hundred symphony favorites
on: September 23, 2006, 08:46:46 PM
i happened to find this book amongst a lot of old textbooks of myhusband. it is a little tiny book about 2x3. anyway - it reinterates what i thought i heard in a music class. the idea that cpe bach used the 'fugue' idea to creat a blueprint for the 'symphony' based on something else (the presentation of two tunes, co-equal in importance).
there's a few more tidbits. but, perhaps someone would care to share more about how a fugue turned into a symphony.
www.aam.co.uk/index.htm
tells a little more about it.
