This is abysmal!
on: September 24, 2006, 06:09:17 AM
Greetings.

I have never though that such a seemingly innocent word can convey such a contumelious and vulgar meaning. "pregnant cat" is the word. Up to now I had no idea what it meant and just thought that it probably means "crazy" or "wacky". From what I have been told, it means "mother f cker". I can't believe that such a word should be allowed in so many public situations, as in schools and etc.

I don't try to sound smart, especially in here. I am not ignorant, just surprised at how much this word is used everywhere, form elementary schools to a generally accepted language. I just never know the meaning of the word.

How is it that I'm ingorant?

Probably might explain why that word was a wee bit out of context.

Contumelious= rudeness from insolence. The word "pregnant cat" has therefore a contumelious standart, because of what it stands for. It is insolent.

Standard.

I never heard of the word 'Contumelious' before. I do know what 'pregnant cat' is supposed to mean.

But then agains, English isn't my native language. If it were I would probably be throwing words as 'Contumelious' and the like around as... well, candy, presents, something like that. It's not like I do hand out these kinds of things, I was just speaking figuratively.

As for 'pregnant cat' being accepted language, sounds strange to me. How can 'pregnant cat' be more acceptable as '***'?

A word can neither be arrogant nor insolent, sadly.

And the belief that the word has an insolent standard is subjective on your part.

Mutha fcker has varying tones and meanings. However it can be used in an insolent manner. pregnant cat, on the other hand, cant convey insolence or, be used contumeliously, no matter how or when it's used.

It's just too GOOFY A WORD TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY :P

And that's something many would agree on.

Well that's what you get for using words that you don't know what they mean.

Stay away from bad words.  They hurt.

Debussy, if our rights to say 'pregnant cat' in school and on TV are restricted, it's only going to lead to a slippery slope.

"First they came for 'pregnant cat' but I did not say 'pregnant cat' so I did not speak out. Then they came for 'biatch' but I did not say it, so I did not speak out. Then they came for 'shiznit' but I did not say 'shiznit' so I did not speak out. And when they came for 'wassup', there was no one left to speak out for me."

Debussy, I think you should seriously start learning da pregnant cat lingo. The way you're permanently irritating Nils, I can see you getting banned in a near future  ;D.
Then I guess you will become Dapuzzy for good on some other place, where you won't be expected to express yourself in words such as "contumelious". :P
possibly.

"reproaching".

"jejune".

lol I think you mean "provoking".

Now whether or not you can give us the definitions of "jejune" and "reproaching" is unimportant, because if I called you a "paragon of pretentious vernacular", I would STILL be being pretentious.  So instead, I'll call you an insecure jerk who thinks using big words, often misused, makes him look smart, but only makes him look stupid.

And Hinton and I can always take you down in "expressing our respective solipsisms with gratuitous floccinaucinihilipilification", or, using more/bigger words than we need to.

You lack logic... and creativity. To make up for it, you have to cram in a bunch of farcical words you found from dictionary.com. You lack sense. Talking about pretty paintings or the works of some random dude from 300 years ago doesn't give you any extra ability to function in the real world or innovate. You live on the surface of a two dimensional plane. You lack depth. You lack life.

On the contrary, the only lack of logic was just displayed by you. If talking about paintings and writing isn't creative, what is? Eating psychodelic mushrooms and getting high? You make sophomoric claims about you having "perspective", yet reason like a teenager on adrenaline. How about we stop saying our first impressions, however "sure" of them you are, and start thinking outside the box.

Mesaline, a substance extracted from a San Pedro cactus, has been used as a hallucinogen by many priests. Thought to possess a hypnotic power, the cactus was used largely to put people into a trance, and be put onto a state in which the priest's suggestions can make an impact. Thus this substance was used to control large groups and religious sites.

As with all drugs, mesaline may provide a trance-like state, but due to an imballance of chemicals, may lead to illness.

You might want to actually put the quotations around the title next time. Wouldn't you rather know the history of the drug before injesting it? You talked about peer influence earlier, well, here is the irony.

The priests would often have the followers injest the drug, leading them through a dark, religious tunner, etching in whatever they were meaning to to the follower's mind. Did you know, that the religious circle had waterways running from all directions, and under total darkness and the drug's effect, the follower truly though that he was in the presence of God?
