selling almost new Yamaha, price?
on: September 25, 2006, 12:25:47 PM
okay. so i've decided to sell my two uprights. to be more specific, i'm intending to switch them for kawai grand RX-2, of course with giving some extra money. kawai dealer will set the price by his judging, but i know he wants to earn something, so he won't give me quite high price for yamaha i think.
since i have no knowledge about the prices, i'd like to ask if someone is familiar. i know it's very tough to say price without seeing and touching piano, but i'll give some informations which could help.

first one is like 12-13 years old, very bad condition so i don't expect much money. (converted from my valute, thats about 860 USD)

other one is yamaha V124 upright, 1 year and 10 months old, looking brand new, regulary tuned, 124cm high. when i bought it, the price was about 10 130 USD converted, but i've got it cheaper because we paid in cash. (i think that's not important)

so, which price i could consider ''sane'', because yamaha is in very good condition and still not old for a piano. would be half of price okay?

btw, kawai  RX-2 is about 15 115 USD here. my last question is, how are your impressions with this model and kawai generally? i'm satisfied from what i saw and heard and touched, but i just wanna be sure, because i don't want to change piano again after a year..

thanks

If you do decide to buy a Kawai make sure you play the top keys of the piano with the soft and sustain pedal, make sure that the notes dont play twice when you only play the note once, for some strange reason something is wrong with the manufacturers, a tecknical F**ck up. Infact run your fingers through all the keys with the soft and sustain pedal and look for that fault. If you like Chopin, kawai is the piano for you, but its so hard to play Mozart on a Kawai.
Between you and mean, if you want a drop dead gorgeous piano, GROTRIAN-STEINWEG
is the piano to have. happy shoping. 8)
