I have developed an unhealthy(?) obsession with Prokofiev's "Suggestion Diabolique". I became mesmerized after hearing Richter's 1961 live Paris recording and have trawled the internet for every recording i could find.

I now have a small collection of performances including Kissin (live), Moiseiwitsch, Prokofiev, Berman, Sviridov and Gavrilov. Two of the most impressive IMO being a studio recording by Chiu and one which i may possibly have miscredited to Marshev.
The best version i have EVER heard has eluded all my attempts to identify. For my money it is the most thrilling rendition, played with speed, intensity and drama but always with total poise (so many players go off the rails with this one!).

Given the demands of the piece, this is clearly someone with an awesome technique, all the more astonishing being that it's taken from a live performance. Could anyone please tell me who the pianist is and put me out of my misery? It's well worth the download. Many thanks and i'll look forward to your comments.

...just incase attachment doesn't work here are a few links to the file;

prokofiev's recording is fabulous i agree but i don't think it is definitive (although he can rightfully claim to be the authority on the piece) His playing of the piece is spare but driven. There is not enough theatre in it for my blood though.
Did you have any thoughts on the download? I would be happy to upload any other S.D. recordings in my collection for comparison if anyone is interested...
