christmas charity
on: October 03, 2006, 04:40:54 PM
Just wondering how many teachers have their students do something for the community during the holidays? I just started last year, we took up money and gifts and warm clothing for a local homeless shelter! This year we are collecting for migrant workers children.....just curious what other ideas for shaing that you guys have.

I am encouraging all those I come in contact with to help us with "Operation Christmas Child" where you fill a shoebox with gifts, clothes, toys, candy etc. The boxes go worldwide. This year, we are doing that and filling boxes for needy children in our area too.

It's an organization started by Franklin Graham, Billy Graham's son. It's called Samaritan's Purse. There is a website called that. I don't have the exact address with me now, but you could google it, and I am sure you would find it. It's a great charity.
