"Lurkers"  Now that's a spookey thought.  Just think of all those people who read what we write.  I'd rather concentrate on getting to "know" everyone here.  We could be famous!

It's sunny and nice here in California too.  I am working today next to a computer, so I have had the privilege of being on Piano Street all Day!! What a treat!  When I am home, I only can spend limited time on it.  So, welcome pianojam!

Hi there, my name is Dan and I'm from England. This is my first post in what seems a very informative and helpful forum!! I was taught piano classically and passed all the grades as a teenager before studying jazz piano in Manchester as part of my degree course ten years ago. I now feel I am ready to pass on what I have learnt and see myself as a full time piano teacher in a few years. My first aim is to gain a few more students (I currently teach 2 adult friends of mine) and move on from there. I currently work full time but it is a job that allows people to work part time so bearing this in mind I am hoping to gradually introduce more pupils and cut down on my normal work hours!
So the quest begins for more pupils....

I am looking forwards to learning and hopefully contributing my thoughts on piano teaching.  I have learnt so many things already from the few hours I have spent reading the posts here!

Hi, I'm from Norway, and as you can see I only have one post (in the audition room) ( well now i have this post too)  :D I joined quite recently, but I've been a "lurker" for a long time. I too find these forums very helpful and informative.

I don't know what a lurker is, but I'm now going to google it. Ok, done.
I joined recently, and I've made only a few posts. Anyway, I've been loving this forum. Alot of helpful information. I haven't much experience concerning the piano, so I can't participate in much questions which more experienced pianists put. I've already introduced myself better at the other posts I've made. :p
Damn lurkers. Bah.

Bye for now,
           OceanSoul.

I was hoping more teachers would join and share ideas, but it seems we talk more about everything else!

Oh, we talk music or piano sometimes, but you have to go another section for that.  I do enjoy talking with other musicians even if we never talk music though. It is awesome to meet people from all over the world, all ages and races all with a common bond of music.  Like you for instance, I bet you live in Florida (I'm so smart).  I live in California.  That's a world away, but you even said we were on the same wave length the other day. Pretty neat.  I talk like I've been around here forever, but I really haven't.  I just joined a few months ago, but feel the draw of it.  It is like coming home, sort of.

I find Pop senseless. :)
The only style of music I like is classical.

Toodles!

everyone is entitled to their own opinion...but you really shouldn't call other styles "senseless"......

Iagree.  I may not prefer a certain style of music, but that doesn't mean it's bad or senseless.  I have preached that sermon to my son (who is a music major and VERY opinionated) many, many times.
