dear lagin

i didn't want to respond to the thread since it said 'boys...'  - so i've created my own to answer the dillema or at least address what i believe to be the solution to your dillema.  as bob solves problems, so do i.  he says to take risks with a bit of thought and planning.  now, if your dad has previously made up situations where it is necessary to go to the site and ask questions - then - obviously he can make up another random necessity.  just because you are a go-between doesn't mean this time you can't catch him off guard.  pictures are not worth a thousand words.  going in person IS.  put on your hot red dress and heels.  give him a really simplistic message.  that you took time to bring this little message all dressed up.  when he asks you where you are going afterwards - tell him you got dressed up to bring the message to him.  after many red flags go up (one of which is you in the red dress) he may proffer that he is married - which of course, you could find out - if only he would let you in his office.  usually the pictures of wife and kids are there.  but, if he is not - then is the time to ask his age and if he's been married before.  we don't want complications or children getting dropped in the lap (unless you can handle it).  i personally feel that if one person has been married before and the other one hasn't - to allow the one that hasn't a similar chance with someone like themselves.

ok.  so assuming even the most timid man - sees you in a red dress.  personally delivering a message.  say, he blushes and looks down.  grabs the message and runs away.  you simply look around for a laundry cart.  hide out for a while and then cause random things to start going wrong.  believe me.  every man probably wishes at work things would go wrong just so they could have something less boring to do.  pull the fire alarm.

*perhaps your dad can ask for you to have a tour of some kind to a specific spot.  that he needs a measurement or a figure.  trip on the steps and twist your ankle.  remove your shoes and ask to be carried to the site.  be careful he does not bury you in thousands of pounds of concrete.  if he is the nice/shy guy - then he will ask to carry you anyway.  it is at this point you can check out his chest (girls always seem to have preferences).  when he balks at having his shirt buttons undone - just say it's something you've been wondering about.  make sure the foreman catches him.  men are prone to take more risks once they've been caught.  if everyone thinks you're his girlfriend, then you are.

re-reading this, i can't believe what i said.

seriously, i've been thinking about what sharon_f said.  if your dad knows the guy and he's able to talk more than you with him - then he could find out an awful lot of stuff for you - saving you the trouble of getting dressed up.

yes. it's probably better to wait for the phone call.  of course, you could drive by and drop about 50 cards with your name on them all around his car.  if he doesn't get the hint then, who would?

but, hmmm.  that might be too forward as well.

ok.  just plain out and out stalk him.  if he asks why you are following him - tell him that you think he's really cute and wish you could go out with him.  sometimes what you wish for isn't necessary what God has in mind, though.  take for instance, the guy that always sits beside you and whines that you are ignoring him.  perhaps he's a great guy - and just doesn't take as many risks as you think a man should.  but, perhaps he's the one that will safely drive you places.  that will play with the kids.  that will stay home with you and take care of you when you are sick.  that will be faithful to you.  go for the geek.  not always the good looking one.  although, i don't doubt that there are some fine gentlemen that are good looking.  but, how do you know this one likes music.  perhaps the whiner already knows you play piano and keeps sending you flowers after your recitals (hoping for that one kiss - that will prove to him that you love him).
