Toward the Flame: Boris Petrushansky’s Journey Through Scriabin’s Universe

Alexander Scriabin died in April 1915, at forty-three, of a fever that took him within a week — leaving his great mystical project unfinished. He left behind a piano language no one had spoken before, one that a century later still questions every interpreter who approaches it. Boris Petrushansky has spent a lifetime preparing his answer. In a new album and an extended conversation with Piano Street, he traces Scriabin’s path from the early Preludes to the final, shattering Op. 74. Read more

need Help!- beethoven sonatine op 79
on: October 10, 2006, 09:14:06 PM
Im having trouble with the 3rd movement. My left hand needs to play triplets and my right hand needs to play in common time and they wont listen to me!

so far the rhythm looks like this for both hands

Treble- 1  +a 2  +a

Bass-   1-2-3 4-5-6

It looks easy but its hard to get it right. Either my right hand will start playing in 6/8 time or my left will convert to 16th notes!

If anyone has figured out a technique for this or has done this peice before could you shed some light on how to do it? so far ive tried beating the patterns into my brain seperate and then trying to combine them ...doesnt work so well.

I'm guessing you mean 2 against 3.

Follow this overall rhythmic pattern when putting together:
quarter, eighth, eighth, quarter

Using this coordination for LH 3, RH 2:
Together, Left, Right, Left

Saying this phrase in rhythm may help:
"Nice cup of tea"

For more search on polyrhythms and 2 against 3.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach
