Debussy- Brouillards
on: October 16, 2006, 10:24:38 AM
What kind of tempo do people take this at? I dont get on with Debussy's pieces that are marked "Modere" at all in terms of speed. The recordings of this I've heard range from as slow as 72 bpm to 120 bpm.
I'm recording it on Wednesday as part of an exam, and technically I'm on top of it, and am able to play it at many different tempi, but i dont know which one i like best.

I think this piece is so descriptive the title will tell you the answer. "Mists" swirl around always on the slower side rather than the faster side, that is slower to the eighth note. It has to sound hypnotic and blurry, not brilliant and virtuosic.
