this is great!  from what i hear - temple is really a good school.  but, it sounds like you know about that already.  perhaps also, you want access to a good library - or good pianos.  west chester isn't that far from temple and they have an all new music building with ALL NEW steinways.  check it out!  also, they have a very specialized program in music.  the teachers there are all julliard grads.  and, they are very very good.

carl cranmer was my teacher, and he took time out of his schedule to take us to steinway factory, steinway hall, carnegie hall, julliard, and the metropolitan museaum of art (as well as the barnes and noble and starbucks).  i would say of all the musical experiences here - the ones at west chester have been most pleasing.  also, carl performs regularly and is an excellent teacher.

the chair of music is brian burton who is an ethnomusicologist.  the last article i see on him is dealing with native american music.  pow wow music.  i'm sure you would get along great - explaining a bit about music of the philippines.  especially that you like to compose music that has that flavor.  dr. burton travels quite extensively.
