Looking for keyboard
on: October 30, 2006, 02:52:17 AM
Hi, i'm looking for a keyboard but know nothing about them.  I'm looking to spend about $1000.  If there are any that have good key action that is what i am looking for the most, although i'm sure none will be perfect.  also i don't need any effects or hooking up to a computer or anything if they even make keyboards without those things. being able to use headphones is important too. so if anyone knows of any good ones let me know.

Hallo b0mbtrack,

Your budget is around $ 1000, you want a realistic feel of the keys, no computer hook up, but headphones are important.

Yamaha makes good digital/electric pianos and many members in this Forum use them.

Suggest you look into the

Yamaha YDP131C Digital Piano w/ 88  Keys, Graded Hammer Note weighted action with realistic piano feel, 3 pedals, 2 headphones, with seat - NEW $1,028 (amazon.com) and perhaps at lesser prices elsewhere (search under Froogle)

This  is constructed  like a genuine piano, not just a keyboard on a stand.

But if you want a  Keyboard, you can get one for half your budget - then I cannot assure you of the key and sound qualities.

I would have suggested Clavinovas, the CLP or CVP Series, but they are more expensive.

Best of luck!

Hey, thanks for the info.  Yamaha YDP131C  sounds like it is a good one, i'll have to look into it further.  I was looking for keyboards because i live upstairs in a small studio and didn't think i could fit anything too big in here.  But if something that good for that price is available i'll get it up here and make it fit. thanks

Hi b0mbtrack

Getting the Yamaha into your upstairs room and assembling it there is the least of the problems. Anyway it comes inside a carton, dis-assembled.

But once assembled, I do not know what room dimensions you have to accommodate it. Even for a simple keyboard you need a stand or table for the length and width to place it at at the working height.

The Yamaha is 56"(4 ft 8 ins) long and 17 inches deep - so that is your floor space or footprint it will occupy.

I looked into both of them and will be going with the yamaha.  It just seems like a better buy, plus i did want the three pedals and it sounds like the keys will have a better feel to them on the yamaha.  Thanks for all the info, i was going to email yamaha to find out if it comes in pieces and get the sizes but don't need to now.  Thanks.

Hallo b0mbtrack,

Agree.....good decision.

Search under Froogle and get a list of prices "lowest to highest"  - you have the Yamaha YDP131C starting from $ 840/-.

Not bad at all.
