A new challenge.....(piano)
on: November 05, 2006, 05:16:00 AM
Heyhey, lets say if you flip a score or music book upside down, arrange the accidentals properly, take note of the sharps and flats(and the key), is it possible to play what you see? (It would be fun, though, imagine playing FI upside down) :D

sometimes i try to play bach by switching my left hand over my right hand.  usually it ends in total confusion by my brain.  but, it's a good exercise for a few measures.  some things sound better when messed with.  or at least you could use it for some interest at the repeats.

I remember a funny Victor Borge sketch where he started playing something and it sounded random, so he turned the score upside down and it sounded fine ;D Can't remember what the piece was though...

you could just try playing the organ with a nasty pedal part.
It often gets confused with the left hand, so annoying!

how about sudden transpositions that vocalists often ask for.  i'm usually stumped on anything past a 1/2 note jump.  for instance from C to C# just makes everything sharped.  of course, everything my hubby has is in the key of D-flat.  perhaps it is practice.  by the time i am done just practicing my regular pieces - i have no time to fiddle around like this and usually save time by writing it out.
