The Quiet Revolutionary of the Piano – Fauré’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

In the pantheon of French music, Gabriel Fauré (1845–1924) often seems a paradox—an innovator cloaked in restraint, a Romantic by birth who shaped the contours of modern French music with quiet insistence. Piano Street now provides sheet music for his complete piano works: a body of music that resists spectacle, even as it brims with invention and brilliance. Read more

I love the music they're performing, some of the best orchestral works!

It seemed a little light to me.

The stuff they said was also the same stuff someone with no music background could have said.  (Take that with a grain of salt.)   By that I mean the imagery, the colors, etc., all that was stuff someone who no training might have thought too.  I thought that was kind of interesting.

I ran into the Eroica at some weird hour on Sat, missed the first half, but I thought it was very well put together.  I like how there would be running commentary as the music played, and providing context to the music.  I learned some new things.  This is something I'd like to have on my shelf to share with some of my more casual-listener friends.  It's the kind of video that could build more interest in a dabbler.

Overall, a well made documentary.  Good musical insight, historical and biographical info, imagery, poetic commentary, and presented in an accessible way for non-musicians.  I'll keep in mind to catch the next installments.

Thanks for the site!

i saw that one too - and found it interesting about the last movement of the eroica being a sort of jest that beethoven was making on another composer at the time's music and turning it upside down and creating a theme out of it.  was it ritgeur?  i forget the name.  anyways - he was saying that it was a sort of 'besting' that beethoven was doing of the other composers of the day.  a sort of playful thing.
