New Piano Market Statistics: Inside the Quiet Transformation of Piano Playing

For those of us who spend our lives on the bench — whether teaching, practicing for a recital, or simply playing for the love of it – the piano has always been a singular concept: wood, felt, strings, and soul. Yet, recent global market reports reveal that the definition of our instrument is expanding and evolving in ways that affect us all. Read more

Hi, I can play the piano a little bit, I played in school for a couple of years, then played the glockenspiel, which is similar, for a year. There's a song I really love that has an amazing piano part that I would love to be able to play.

I've searched the net, but can't find any sheet music for it. It's by a punk band, (even though this songs slower than most) so you may not like the song, but if any of you are good enough to figure out the notes of the piano parts, could you please tell me them? I don't need the piano all the way through, just the stand out parts. (1:56 into the song until 2:35 - It is the same dozen or so notes repeated pretty much)

The song is called 'She Takes It So Well' by Hot Water Music. I've attached it.

Thanks!

Alright, it's been downloaded 4 times, can you help please?
There are only about 12 notes or so, they are just repeated. I didn't think it'd be hard for a skilled pianist. I'll probably figure it out myself, I guess.

I'm really not very good at this, but this is what I think I hear: either B B D F#, G G D F#, E E D F#, F# F# D F#.  Or it could also be B B D F#, A A D F#, G G D F#, A A D F#.

Like I said, I'm not really good at this, but fool around with that pattern and see if you can figure it out.  I think I'm close, at least in pattern idea, but I'm not sure that I'm right.

Edit: next post is closer, now that I have had a couple more listens.  Surely somebody who is better at this than I am can take what I've started with and fine tune out the errors.  Guys?

Or wait!  This is closer, but I don't think it's there yet......... B B D F#, G G B F#, E E G F#, then F# F# something something (A F#?).....

Or, B B D F#, A A C# F#, G G B F#, A A C# A

No problem, but like I said, anyone else, please double check me, because I'm not sure I've got it yet!

P.S. You're right, that music is not everyone's favorite, but that piano part is very groovy.  (Yes, that's right "groovy!"  I don't care if the word is outdated!)

:P I know, it's very nice to hear in between 10 or so punk songs on that album.

You mean the keyboard part?  The main riff goes something like

This is what i hear...

D D C# C# B B A A gliss B E F# F#
D D C# C# B B A B E E D F#
D D C# C# B B A B E E D F#
D D C# C# B B A A B C#... D ....

You try figure out the rest, i think it's the same as above repeated but din't check

Addendum:

Actually there are subtle variations in the last 4 as well.  but the very last one is
D D C# C# B B A A B C#... D ....

I guess it doens't make too much difference, if you repeat it should be ok.

Hope this helps.
