Can studying too much make you fall sick?
What is "too much"?The day has 24 hours, so you can't study more then 24 hours a day But of course, you can overdo a special piece in repeating it all the time without any goal. Concentration is the most important thing in playing and practising. If you are too tired, you will not be able to concentrate on your playing and the practising will not make your playing better. In the worst case, it will go completely out of control.
I dunno if STUDYING too much can make you sick, but stressing over studies absolutely does. Guess how I know.
You can only learn for about 15 to 20 minutes. Then you need to take a break from learning new things.
my daughter often has 2-3 hours of homework in 7th grade. i'm kinda surprised - and when it's 10:00 pm and she's still at it - i tell her - just go to bed and wake up really early. but, she hates waking up before she has to - so she just stays up late sometimes. i think it's more effective to study when you've had some shut eye. the strange thing is - she remembers what she studies when she's tired. i don't think i ever did.
she showed me her report card yesterday and it was straight-A's again. i'm really proud of her, but honestly i don't think she gets this from my side of the family. i always got at least one B (or two). she's always doing things 3-4 days ahead - (studying for tests) and she always asks for help studying which i don't really remember doing that much. she wants either me or her dad to ask the questions until she gets them all right. i'm thinking that if she keeps this up - she'll be getting a full scholarship. it's just that in highschool - things can get distracting. hopefully - she won't get too sidetracked by drama club. i thought she bowed out -but now - she is back at it - telling me she might take a minor part in 'you're a good man charlie brown.'you're probably in college? so one hour of homework - sorta equals three when you think of the time that it takes to really let it sink into the brain. i always thought about things way into the night - especially if i wasn't able to remember something and had to keep repeating it.
