Russian- Japanese - Canadian folk song (sad)
on: November 16, 2006, 12:36:25 PM
In very far from us 1967, during the concert  of Japanese student of Moscow Conservatory - soprano Keiko Oda, I was absolutely amazed with her  performance of this Russian folk song ("Don't  Reproach Me"), and especially with the result of this performance. Fully packed Hall of the Conservatory was silent - nobody applouded, because everyone, including myself, was sobing and crying. Only 1-2 minutes later the standing ovation started with the eyes full of tears.

Later I was in several tours with her teacher - Prof. Galina Pisarenko. And there again was the same problem: all - general tears  instead of applouse. I realized, that there should be some professional secrets, just talent is not enough. A lot of performers get "Wow!!!" from the audience, but how many can make them cry?

Now I am a Canadian, and I want to play for you this wonderful Russian song. Maybe I could catch some of their secrets from these two unforgettable sopranos?

This was one of "encores" in my recent concert at "Glenn Gould Studio" of Canadian Broadcasting Corporation - CBC on October 20. 2006)

Beautiful song, I really enjoyed it!

I got goosebumbs in some parts of the song... I didn't cry though.  ;)

Are you able to post the sheet music of this beautiful song? I'd love to take a look at it!

great song - same: I got goosebumps, but no tears yet.

Do you think you could upload the sheet music or suggest a place to find it? It'll be greatly appreciated

This song is very popular and should be found easily in many books. It is called in Russian "Ne Korite Menya, Ne Branite". "Не Корите Меня, Не Браните". ("HE KORNTE MEHR, HE BPAHNTE" - this is Russian by Latin letters).

I would like to post this and, probably, other songs as well. However, I am not good in computer and need help. Maybe, somebody can teach me: how can I print notes on computer, send them by e-mail  and post on Forum.

I will appreciate any advice.

With my best wishes,

Vladimir Dounin

Thanks for willing to post the sheet music!

An option to post the sheet music, is to scan the sheet music. If you don't have a scanner, maybe someone you know might have one. After doing that, the sheet music page(s) can be shown in the computer, as an image. The image can be uploaded by using various upload-websites. https://imageshack.us/   is one of the most popular image upload websites, so you might use that one. After you uploaded the image of the sheet music page(s), you'll get a link. Just copy/paste the link of the image and post it here.  :)

Thank you very much for your instruction! However, I have to print notes on computer from my own, not computer's, memory. I did not bring sheet music from Russia (I was leaving my home just for a 3 months that turned to be more than 14 years). So, I need a real program for printing notes on my computer.

All the best!
