Hi Imbettertahanyou. I'm better than you. (kidding). I can't rate repertoires. They are a fact you have to deal with at the respective moment. So I didn't vote. Just one thought. You may add some more obscure pieces in the future, e.g. Beethoven op. 78 or op. 90, Schubert "Grazer Fantasie" or piano pieces D 946, Chopin Bolero, some Alkan Préludes, try out some Janacek ("On an overgrown path" for instance has wonderful not too difficult pieces in it) or Szymanowski Préludes. There are loads. Because popular pieces you have enough I think. Of course it's important to have them. I do actually work on a lot of popular pieces currently. It's good for business. ;D

Best wishes

Wolfi

You need more Baroque, Classical and 20th Century music. You're correct in your assesment that you have too much Romantic music. Get some contrasting literature in your rep, it will inform and improve your 19th Century pieces. Chopin's idols were Bach and Mozart; knowing more of their music will increase your understanding of Chopin.

Thanks guys. I appreciate your oppinions. I just bought a huge book of Bach pieces. I'm lerning a couple preludes and an invention. I'm also lerning Handles Air and Variations. Baroque is a very important part of classical music. I don't really like 20th century music because I find them sort of "melodicaly challenged".

I've added Handle's Air and Variations No.5 to the baroque section of my repertoire and Mozart's Sonata K 627 to the classical section :)

I recommend Bach's English and French Suites - they're nice pieces and aren't as hard as many of the advanced Preludes and Fugues from the WTC.

Finished learning Mozart Fantasy in D minor. Another classic learned! I'm going to learn another Mozart Sonata then start learning some Bach pieces.

Hehe, don't mean to break your spirit mate, but Mozart's Fantasy is a pretty... err... trashy piece.

I've learned bach's prelude no.1 from WTC  8)

thats also popular.

Why not pick better pieces?  Try some Chopin mazurkas, Debussy Children's Corner, the "easier" Scriabin preludes, etc.

don't forget this kid is very young.

If you're for real imby this is an excellent rep. It'll  give you a nice solid base and make you a real crowd pleaser.

Possibly because she has not been in the chatroom, where for the last 3 nights you have been talking about your repetoire.

Its nonsense to vote here, because it also depends on HOW WELL you can play those pieces.
