Do I take the exam?
on: November 27, 2006, 08:19:38 PM
I have spent the last 12 months learning the 3 grade 8 pieces abrsm with a teacher and I have to say I can play them now with ease and expression no problem, also I have learned all the scales and arpeggios that is required for this grade, but the problem is my sightreading and aural are no where near what they should be for this grade.
If I dont take the exam in early spring next year I would have to start from scratch new pieces for the next time.
Has anybody put them self in for these exams knowing that sightreading and aural are not up to the requirement?and actualy still come out smileing with a pass.

Hi,
why not take the time and practice both. Here's a nice link where you can try to develop a good feeling for intervals:
https://www.musikwissenschaften.de/interaktiv/gb/index.htm
Its all german, but i'm sure you'll find your way through it
.
Choose "piano" and try "intervalle sukzessiv" . You can hide the score with "Noten verstecken"
Good Luck for your exam.
