Lourie
on: December 01, 2006, 04:06:35 PM
Does anyone have a collection of Lourie's early piano works?
I'm after:

Estampes, op.2
Intermede infantine, op.3
3 Etudes, op.4
2 Mazurkas, op.7
Masques, op.13
Menuet after Gluck
Devnoy Uzor
Upmann

I have the other stuff, if anyone's interested, but no scanner unfortunately.

Thanks, if anyone can help.

Best wishes

Jonathan

You refer to the Russian Futurist Artur Lourie?

I Need:

***Boulez Troisieme Sonate pour Piano 4th Movement
Vivier Shiraz
Tailleferre Piano Trio
Mosolov Nocturnes
Deshevov "Rails"
***Prin Ballade
***Mosolov Piano Sonatas (any or complete, 2, 4 and 5 prefered)
Protopopov Sonata No. 1
Dillon Spleen
Donatini "Rima"
Finnissy Tangos
***anything by B.A. Zimmermann

Asterisks are higher priority.  Oh, and I have a personal question I also want to ask, which would be why did you let Ian Pace, who to my knowledge you don't have IMMENSE respect for, premiere one of your works?

I also have Syntheses if you want those too.

Go to the Pianophilia forum for them. No use on uploading them if they're already online somewhere.

Did you ever have any luck finding the Lourie pieces? I'm fascinated by his 5 preludes fragile and would like to know more early Lourie.

Thanks

Women and the Chopin Competition: Breaking Barriers in Classical Music

The piano, a sleek monument of polished wood and ivory keys, holds a curious, often paradoxical, position in music history, especially for women. While offering a crucial outlet for female expression in societies where opportunities were often limited, it also became a stage for complex gender dynamics, sometimes subtle, sometimes stark. From drawing-room whispers in the 19th century to the thunderous applause of today’s concert halls, the story of women and the piano is a narrative woven with threads of remarkable progress and stubbornly persistent challenges.
