Liszt Piano concerto no 2 in A
on: December 08, 2006, 10:42:52 AM
Hello all,

I am looking for a decent video of this concerto, as there are some things I would like to observe and compare to my own interpretation of it. I had a look on youtube but all I found there was a 2 min clip of some of the worst playing I have ever seen in my life. I have many good recordings of it, so I am specifically looking for a video. If anyone can help...

If you wanted, I could post a video of myself playing this piece, but it's only the two-piano version.  However, I think personally I did a very good job of this piece for my age, and the qualilty of the video is quite good.

Sorry to leave you hanging.  I have the DVD with me, but I am having some problems ripping it to my computer.  I know my comp is able to burn DVD's, but is there a program that you would suggest that I use to make this a little easier?  The DVD plays fine on my comp, so I know it's not the DVD's problem...

Go to www.slysoft.com

and download the free trial versions of AnyDVD and CloneDVD2.  These are the 2 greatest programs the internet has to offer.  You probably won't need AnyDVD for this kind of work, but get it anyway because it's AWESOME.

you should be able to get some .VOB files for ce nedra to watch.  However, the files might be huge; I still have yet to find a good program for cutting and converting .VOB files into .mpeg or .avi files. (let me know if you have any luck)

Thanks there.  I got the DVD ripped to my computer, but the file is still just over 700Mb.  Is there a website that would host a 700mb file?  Or does anyone know how I could convert this file to a less large file?  By the way, this has been really great of you to remind me about this piece, as I have just grown to really love it again.  I sure want to re-learn this one sometime soon.

Thanks for this link.  I had heard of the site, but I forgot what the URL was.  I have no clue how long this will take, but it shouldn't be more than a couple hours.

OK, so basically what happens is at the very bottom, the timer keeps on getting longer and longer until the window shuts down and the upload stops.  I am currently on vacation right now with sortof a fishy internet connection, so when I get home I'll try this again, and more than likely this will work.

Yeah I tried downloading that christmas present you uploaded onto GF and that didn't work.  It's probably the connection here in Palm Springs.  What is it that you uploaded by the way?

Im just on a vacation.  When you live in the middle of Canada, and go to school in Minnesota, its really nice to get away.  Im not sure about the connection though.  Maybe I'll try it again because when I first got here it was really tough to even get a signal, but stuff is much better now.

Thank you Jakev.

Anyway, I finally managed to upload this DVD.

Have fun, and any feedback would be appreciated.  It was recorded in the Summer of 2005 in Edmonton at the Canadian Music Competition when I was 16.

Wonderful job! One bravo for you, Viking, and one bravo for your teacher. Rather heavy document, but worth while downloading.
