Rite of Spring - solo piano version

Hi
Does anyone know where I can find either a recording or sheet music for this? i live in the uk so amazon.com is no good lol. ive been really interested in it and want to start learning it - has anyone done it?

This may be a stupid response, but have you tried www.amazon.co.uk? They stock basically everything amazon.com does, but in the UK.

I think I may have the sheet music, but for the life of me, I can't remember the composer.

the composer is stravinsky. also, the transcription you may be lolking for is by sam raphling. its the only one ive seen of the piece.

There's the 2 piano version by Stravinsky - I dunno if that's the one you're thinking of which should be readily available at B&H's grossly inflated normal prices.

There is a spectacular performance of the Raphling version on YouTube.  Definitly watch it.

There is also a solo transcription by Dag Achatz

now.. i need to know which one is better... dont want to spend loads of time on one, to find that the other is better

i have no idea which one is better lol. to be honest, they will both have their inaccuracies. the way to deal with that is just to obtain decent recordings and then make your own judgments buy ear or putting your own stuff in. thats what i do with the horowitz transcriptions.

Dickran Atamian also recorded the Raphling version. It was available on the RCA  and later the Delos label. He also performed it on PBS about 25 years ago...quite jaw-dropping!
