questions about Stress notes

The one with a horizontal line at the bottem of the note.

How is it different from accented notes? With accented notes, I tend it play it louder, to make it stand out from the rest of the piece. How should stressed notes be like?

Also, I'm playing a piece with passages of p stressed notes. How can I make them 'stressed' yet quiet enough to be p

The notes you are referring to are indicated with "tenuto" marks.  It means to hold the notes for their full duration.  The stress then is that of duration, not necessarily dynamics.
When you earnestly believe you can compensate for a lack of skill by doubling your efforts, there's no end to what you can't do.
