Help With AMEB Repetoire..
on: December 18, 2006, 08:06:14 AM
I have previously completed up to Grade 5 AMEB. I want to learn some pieces myself for the next Grade 6 Exam. I wondered if anyone here had access to the AMEB syllabus, and could list for me the pieces required for the examination?

Thank you very much for your time if anyone is able to do this.

Hi,

I sat the AMEB Grade 6 Pianoforte exam a couple of years ago using the Series 15 Grade book. I don't know if this will help much, but this is a list of the pieces listed on the index page:

LIST A
SCARLATTI, D. Sonata in D Major K512/L339
HELLER, S. Poco maestoso, No. 15 from 24 etudes faciles Op. 45
BACH, J.S. Sinfonia, No. 14 from 15 Sinfonias BWV 800
GURLITT, C. Con moto, Op. 107 No 6

LIST B
BEETHOVEN, L van. 1st movt from Sonata in G Major, Op. 49 No 2
BEETHOVEN, L van. Rondo in A Major, WoO 49
GALUPPI, B. 2nd movt from Sonata in C Major from Sonate per cembalo

LIST C
MENDELSSOHN, F. Lied ohne Worte, No 2 from Lieder ohne Worte
SKRYABIN, A. Mazurkam No 3 from 9 Mazurkas Op. 25
CHOPIN, F. Mazurka in A Minor, Op. 67 No 4
GADE, N. Humoreske, No 4 from Akvareller Op. 19

From the series 14 grade book -- this is the piece I played:
FAURE, G. Romance without Words from Trois Romances sans Paroles Op. 17 No. 3

LIST D
GRAINGER, P. Will ye gang to the hielands, Lizzie Lindsay?, No 1 from Three Scotch Folksongs
BERKELEY, L. Allegro, No. 5 from Five short pieces for piano Op. 4
LABUNSKI, W. Four variations on a theme by Paganini

Hope this helps!  :)

I have Attached 2 images I scanned from my Syllabus book. I don't know if you have had any experience with the Manual Lists before, you can choose ANY piece from the Manual List, but you have to purchase the sheet music (the correct edition). You cannot print music from the internet, AMEB is very strict when it comes to all this.

Hope this helps.

Hi,
If you live anywhere western Sydney, I'd be happy to help you go through a few pieces.  Chances are, of course, that I am not near you - but just in case.
