These darn RealPlayer popups
on: December 19, 2006, 02:30:23 AM
How do I get rid of those?

It's not from a webpage.  They appear when I start my computer or when I shut down IE.  I think.  This box appears on the lower right side of the screen.  I'm not sure I even used the thing.  Usually it opens right away after I used RealPlayer and close it.

Kind of annoying.

Any ideas?

FIRST: go to add and remove in your <CONTROL PANEL> and remove real player (unless you use it)

If you still want real player but had that little icon on the bottom right hand ,,, then:

1)click <START>

2)then <RUN>

3)type:  msconfig

4)go to the last tab (STARTUP)

5)and 'uncheck' realtray or real,, or anything with real...

6)click <OK> and restart

7)when it restarts, a little window will pop up ,, check-mark it,, and press okay..

Bob,

I'm not sure what popups you are talking about - if you could post a screenshot, then maybe I can help you to get rid of it.

I may try this, but I want to know first, can real palyer do anything that other media prgorams cannot?  Are tehre websites that require real player to view all the content?

no,, there is nothing spectacular about real player, only thing good about real player is playing real player movies (.rm),, other than that, its the same as every other media player out there.   if you follow the second step,, real player will still be installed inside your system,, you only won't see it in the bottom right hand tray..... however,, everytime you launch realplayer, it might show up again on the bottom right.
