never record on an i-pod
on: December 26, 2006, 01:41:25 AM
it sped everything up.  it sounds terrible.  hmm.  must wait for further testing of this recording capability of the compuer through some sort of amplifier.  he says he needs new fuse.

In such a case, your usually more verbose statements would more help us to help you.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

I think she has been at the Holy wine.

Possibly, this message could be in code. I will send it to Simon Singh.

sorry the post was unreadable.  ok.  the i-pod is my son's - but the amplifier is my  husband's.  now, the i-pod is trash as far as i'm concerned.  i have no way to slow it down.  you want to hear alvin and the chipmunks - that's the place to get it.  unlesss...unless there is a way to slow it down.  but, then - my husband says - 'record it directly into the computer...'  he mentioned this once before - but i was at a loss as to where to plug things in.  and, exactly what to plug in in the first place.   ihate computers.  i hate i-pods.  today - i hate everything.  that is because i cannot do this by myself and of course, my husband goes and gets sick.  ohhhh. i have  asore throat.  well, i made him some soup and his favorite cabbage rolls.  if he doesn't get better by tommorrow - well -i might give him until friday.  then, if he does not listen to my demands - i will hold him ransom in his own house.  he will not be able to do anything but work.  like caulking the area around the tub - which the linoleum is coming up fromt he floor.  oohh.  i'm sick.  yes.  likely story.  i have to get a fuse.  well, go and get the fuse!

sorry for going on like this.

It may have something to do with the bit rate.  Or the Hz, or whatever it is.  There is the standard 16 bit, 44.1 Hz (or something like that).  If you record at a different setting (or playback) you can get things a lot faster or a lot slower.

It IS on topic.

Never record on an ipod  -- because it plays back speeded up.

That's what I got from the post.

So I thought maybe the recording or playback setting is different.

Pianistimo dear, Bob has a point.   ;) Tis supposed to be a joyous time of year.

You could have recorded at 22 kHz and played back at 44.1 kHz.  Doing so would twice speed up the recording.

If you don't want it, you can always give it to me, dear lady.
Bach - Partita No.2
Scriabin - Etude 8/12
Debussy - L'isle Joyeuse
Liszt - Un Sospiro

Goal:
Prokofiev - Toccata

ah.  but, it's my son's.  he likes it still.  how long do they typically last?  he's been watching movies on it - but i think it's bad for his eyes.  how do you convince someone of this?  as i see it - the only way i convince my children of anything is to tell them the opposite.  i pods are the best thing on the planet.  they keep you out of reality (not that i don't understand how painful reality can be sometimes).

and, sorry bob!  i was joking a bit.  i sort of understand the hertz bit.  as quantum says - you record at 44 and play back at 22.  it's going to sound a bit fast forwarded.

you know what i am most frustrated at - is that i have to start practicng because even the fast recording didn't cover up some mistakes.  must practice.
