Help, Places to Practice?
on: December 26, 2006, 09:13:29 PM
Hey everybody,
I started playing piano again about 6 months ago, and I'm dedicating myself to learning/improving sight reading and theory (rather than just playing by ear).
I currently live in Orange County, California and was wondering if anyone had any advice on where I could find
Piano Practice Rooms
. The College I'm currently attending has a great piano area, but is only open when teachers are present.
I'm open to and would appreciate any suggestions!
Thank you guys so much-- especially around the holidays, I'm itchin to get some practicing in

thornton is supposed to be an all-steinway school. hmm. orange county is a large place. what immediately springs to mind are all those pianos in wealthy people's homes - that go unused. perhaps put a few ads in the grocery stores that people see as they are walking out.
do you want to have your piano put to good use. let a music student play on it for an hour or two per day - in exchange for ... cleaning, carrying groceries, whatever. honest, dependable music student with references.
pasadena city college must have some pianos around somewhere's.
CHURCHES. ok. this is the best idea. just start going to the church of your choice with the best piano. (terrible advice, i know - not the pastor - the piano). offer to play hymns or just ask if you can practice on the piano on the weekends after church and possibly during the week. this is the quietest of all places, probably. and,the least disrupted unless you have regular choir rehearsals going on.
